Green Smoothie Recipe

Hi Everyone!

I hope you are having a great week. As you may know, I have recently embarked on a healthier lifestyle. Although I love most fruit and vegetables, I sometimes have a hard time eating the recommended daily amounts. I have been testing out different smoothie recipes over the past year or so and have found some really good ones. Below is my go-to recipe for green juice. I do not use any measurements, I simply add as much of each item as I would like. Let me know what your favorite smoothie recipe.


  1. Handful of Spinach (and/or kale)
  2. Cucumber
  3. Celery
  4. Lemon
  5. Handful of frozen pineapples
  6. Flax or chia seeds
  7. Honey (this is optional)
  8. Water



My Banana Bread Recipe

When I was in college, my roommates and I had to be very resourceful. Like many college students, we had to improvise with the items we had on hand. Yet somehow Yanique (one of my lovely roommates) was able to make the most incredible banana bread with just a few staple items.

I never was into baking back then (I didn’t think I was any good at it). Now fast forward a few years and I find myself wanting to bake all of the time. Below is my recipe for banana bread. It’s not quite as good as Yanique’s (I’m still trying to figure out her technique) however hubby seems to love it.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 mashed overripe bananas
1 teaspoon of of vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees ºF (175 degrees ºC). Lightly grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.

2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, spices and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs, vanilla and mashed bananas until well blended.

3. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture; stir just to moisten. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.

4. Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes.
