Day to Night

I can tell you how I feel about you night and day……. ūüé∂ How many of you remember the song I’m referring to? I would tell you which decade it is from but that would really show my age. ūüėú

Speaking of age- they say with age comes wisdom. Well wisdom has taught me the importance of having  keys items in your wardrobe. Pieces such as t-shirts, blazers, black pumps, a good pair of jeans and a LBD (little black dress) are the building blocks for any wardrobe. Their versatility can take you from day to night. I am quite a frugalnista however I now spend a little more on these items because of the amount of use you get of them.

The outfit below is an example of how a staple piece (in this case a blazer) can take you from day to night. What are some of your staple wardrobe items?

La Vie En Rose

Date Night
Rose gold is quite possibly my favorite metal. I love that it is a vintage gold that has made a huge comeback. There is something very unique yet feminine about it. It is that femininity that inspired me to create this date night outfit inspiration. I purposely used dainty rose gold jewelry as a contrast to the other bold pieces. A rosy pink lip helps to pull the outfit together.

Get In Formation!

Ivy Park After Dark

Beyonce is¬†performing at the Rose Bowl tonight (woot, woot!). I will not be in attendance¬†but¬†that¬†didn’t stop me from putting together an outfit inspiration.

I decided to style around a romper since most of her concert venues are outdoors. A structured blazer adds a bit of chicness (and some warmth if it gets cool). The booties and accessories add a bit of edge while the classic pops of red balances out the outfit. A low sleek ponytail is ideal for showcasing the Ivy Park cap. And just like that (finger snap), you are ready to go.

Does this outfit makes you want to get in formation?

My Favorite Bloggers

Hi Everyone-

I hope you are having a great week. I wanted ¬†to take a moment to tell you about some of my favorite bloggers. I am so blessed to have many inspirational women in my life. However since moving to west coast, my day to day interactions with them have become limited. I am constantly in search of¬†new inspiration. And although I can find inspiration just about anywhere, I ¬†find myself going to certain blogs to¬†get my “fix”. ¬†I am not only inspired by the content on these blogs¬†but also by the¬†bloggers¬†courage to share their creations¬†and dedication to perfecting their craft.

Below are some of my favorite blogs (in no particular order). Do you have any favorite bloggers?

1. Shirley of Shirley’s Wardrobe.
2. Patricia of Patricia Bright.
3. Kristine of Trendy Curvy.
4. Shea of Curves and Confidence.
5. Victoria of In the Frow.

Festival Season

Hi Everyone!

Festival season is here! Coachella is the place to be for us west coasters¬†(similar to Woodstock in the east). I’ve become a little bit of a hippie since moving to California. Therefore this sort of stuff is right up my alley. ¬†Although I am unable to attend Coachella this year, I wanted to create a few outfits to serve as inspiration for those of you that will be attending.¬†Let me know which one is your favorite. Peace and love. ūüôā

The outfit below¬†is ideal for art festivals, shopping, or hanging out with friends. It is very¬†representative of the iconic flower child.¬†Wouldn’t you agree?

Coachella Bella

This outfit is perfect for attending a music show. It is comfortable and practical. This dreamcatcher has all of her festival gear in tow. She can even sit on her cardigan if she needs to. Groovy!

This final outfit is perfect for brunch, laying out by the pool or just relaxing. The embroidered romper is great for the warm spring/summer days.¬†The sunglasses are a nod to the 70’s festival culture. And the gladiator sandals, well they are just chic.

Urban Jungle

Ruffles are back!¬†This season some designers took a feminine approach to ruffles while others took a bold/architectural one. As lovely as they are, ruffles aren’t always the most flattering. They can add bulk to places we do not need it.

The outfit below is ideal for ladies with a large chest. The ruffled shorts help to balance the body resulting in the appearance of a hourglass figure. Pear shaped divas should try wearing ruffles towards the top of their bodies for a similar effect.

Stripes, Florals and Lots of Color

Stripes and florals is such a classic pairing. There is something very vintage yet modern about it. I think the same could be said about the girl that would wear the below outfit. I imagine that she wears her hair in a high bun, frequents her¬†local coffee shop, and goes antique shopping on the weekends. What’s your favorite way to pair stripes?
