My Fall/Winter Fashion Wishlist

In the past, I was a serial impulse shopper. However as I got older (and wiser), I realized that I wasted a lot of money on clothing that just sat in my closet. Now, don’t get me wrong- I still enjoy shopping. I just try to be wiser about my purchases. I try to invest in pieces that I know I will get a lot of use out of. I do still purchase trendy items. I just try not to spend too much money on them. As a result, I have less buyer’s remorse and more outfit options. Sure, I now mull over items before pulling the trigger but that just means I end up loving the items that I purchase.

Today, I am sharing my fall/winter fashion wishlist. I thought it would be fun to put together an outfit with the pieces. What’s on your fashion wishlist?

Pleaded Skirt– I’ve always loved pleated skirts. They remind me so much of my mother. Although they are a classic style of skirt, they have recently made a huge comeback. And I want them in just about every color!

Lace Up Boots- Fall is the mark of boots season. Although I’ve only lived in states with warm weather, I can really appreciate a fabulous boot. I love just about every style of boot however I have a special affinity for the lace up/military style boot. I like that they walk the line of being feminine, masculine and vintage.

Black Opium Perfume– I love this scent. It is not new however it is perfect for this time of the year. It is a little mature, a little a spicy and a whole lot of sexy.

Velvet Bag– I am also in love with velvet handbags. I especially love the ones with the insect embellishments. The designer ones are quite expensive but I am not interested in spending a lot of money on something that could be here for just a season. Instead, I’m thinking about purchasing a plain one in a beautiful jewel tone.

Beret– This is another classic piece that has made a comeback. I don’t intend to spend a lot of money on one because I think the trend will only last one season. However I do look forward to rocking mine.

Statement Faux Fur Jacket– This is another classic fashion piece. I think faux fur jackets in a neutral color are a must-have but this season, I having been drooling after faux fur in jewel tones. I think they add a little pop to the drab colors we tend to wear this time of the year.

Day to Night

I can tell you how I feel about you night and day……. 🎶 How many of you remember the song I’m referring to? I would tell you which decade it is from but that would really show my age. 😜

Speaking of age- they say with age comes wisdom. Well wisdom has taught me the importance of having  keys items in your wardrobe. Pieces such as t-shirts, blazers, black pumps, a good pair of jeans and a LBD (little black dress) are the building blocks for any wardrobe. Their versatility can take you from day to night. I am quite a frugalnista however I now spend a little more on these items because of the amount of use you get of them.

The outfit below is an example of how a staple piece (in this case a blazer) can take you from day to night. What are some of your staple wardrobe items?

Get In Formation!

Ivy Park After Dark

Beyonce is performing at the Rose Bowl tonight (woot, woot!). I will not be in attendance but that didn’t stop me from putting together an outfit inspiration.

I decided to style around a romper since most of her concert venues are outdoors. A structured blazer adds a bit of chicness (and some warmth if it gets cool). The booties and accessories add a bit of edge while the classic pops of red balances out the outfit. A low sleek ponytail is ideal for showcasing the Ivy Park cap. And just like that (finger snap), you are ready to go.

Does this outfit makes you want to get in formation?
