Rapid Review: Caudalie Makeup Remover Cleansing Water

Caudalie Makeup Cleansing Water| Moments With Millie

Hi Everyone! I am back with another Rapid Review. This time I am reviewing the Caudalie Makeup Remover Cleansing Water. I featured this in my New In: Spring Beauty Goodies post. As you may have noticed cleansing/micellar waters are all the rage this year. I was really skeptical about them however I decided to give them a try after I stumbled across this particular one. Since Caudalie is a well respected skin care brand I figured I was in good hands. Below are my thoughts. Have you used any cleansing/micellar waters? What are your thoughts on them?

  1. Price-  $4.97 (Nordstrom Rack)
  2. Use(s)- This soap-free cleansing water effectively removes make-up from face and eyes, as well as cleanses and tones skin.
  3. Product Claims- Make-up Remover Cleansing Water soothes, moisturizes and softens skin. With a gentle Micellar cleansing base, make-up is easily removed without rubbing, and face and eyes are left thoroughly clean. The improved formula is now more natural, more effective and gentler on skin. Fresh fragrance includes orange and lemon blossom, watermelon and mint leaves. Make-up Remover Cleansing Water is non-irritating to even the most sensitive skin types.
  4. My Thoughts- I really like this cleansing water. It is very gentle yet effective at removing face makeup. I would say it is not the best at removing mascara and eyeliner. Although I am not vegan, I do love that it is a plant based product.

P.S. I hope you enjoy this format for product reviews. You can review my previous Rapid Review post here.

Skin Care Tips (Oily Skin)

Hi Everyone-

If you are anything like me, then you know the frustrations of having oily skin.  Despite my best efforts I would look a greasy mess by mid-day. Now that I have a better understanding of my skin, I am better equipped to care for it.

Oily skin is caused by sebaceous glands that are over-active, producing excess sebum, contributing to a shiny looking face and skin concerns such as acne, blackheads, enlarged/clogged pores, etc.

Now that we’ve discussed the science behind oily skin, let’s take a look at how to manage it. Let me know if you have any tips to add to list.

  1. Products. It is important that you use products that are formulated for our skin type. Look for products with benzoyl peroxide and at least 2 percent salicylic acid. These products help break down oil in the pores without over-drying the skin.
  2. Hydrate. Water helps us to flush out the toxins in our bodies. Drinking an ample amount of water helps to keep our skin clean and hydrated.
  3. Wash Your Hands. Our hands collect germs and bacteria that can be transferred onto our skin. Therefore it is important to always wash your hands before touching your face.
  4. Remove Your Makeup. We are all guilty of falling asleep before removing our makeup. Although sleeping with makeup on our face is a no-no for everyone, it is especially true for us oily girls. Dirt and oil can seep into our pores over night (resulting in acne). Be sure to at least use a makeup wipe before you go to sleep.
  5. Exfoliate. It is imperative to exfoliate regularly. It is recommended that we exfoliate at least 1-3 times a week. Excess sebum has the tendency to collects in our pores (a contributing factor to acne). It also creates dead cells on the skin surface  (dull-looking skin). Exfoliating clears our pores and renews our skin’s surface. In other words, exfoliating = clear and radiant skin. You can find my natural face scrub recipe here: DIY Face Scrub.
  6. Washcloths. Be sure to use a clean washcloth each time you wash your face. Washcloths (especially wet ones) are breeding grounds for bacteria.
  7. Use a Mask.  Applying masks to the skin helps draw out oils and cleanses pores. Charcoal masks and clays are great for those with our skin type.
  8. Sunscreen. The fear of looking greasy often causes us to skip this essential step in our skin care routine. Sunscreen prevents brown spots, hyper-pigmentation, protects the skin from the sun’s rays, etc. Try looking for a product that is formulated for your face, is oil-free and has a SPF of at least 35.
  9. Moisturize. Contrary to popular belief, oily skin needs moisturization. Stripping the skin of it’s moisture will only lead to the sebaceous glands to produce more oil. Experts recommend that we use an oil-free, water based (non-comedogenic) moisturizer.
  10. Change Your Pillowcases. Pillowcases can absorb oil and dirt while we sleep. Be sure to change your pillowcase at least once a week to avoid redepositing the oil on your face.

My Beauty Wish List

I am a recovering product junkie. I think I have tried just about every hair/beauty item on the market. From hair care, makeup, beauty tools, hair extensions- I have tried them all. In the recent year, I’ve decided to pair down to just the basics. I am also learning to focus on quality (and not quantity). While I am enjoying the process, I still get a little sticker shocked by the cost of high end products. I’ve decided to save more and to buy one item at a time. Here are a few items on my beauty wish list.

Nume Curljam

Nume Curljam

I am in need of new styling tools. I’ve had my Chi flat iron for years. And though it is still in working order, I think it is time that I retire it. It does a good job with straightening my natural hair however I don’t like the fact that it does not have a temperature gauge. Each time I use it (which is not often), I feel as if I am damaging my hair.

I’ve seen many positive reviews on Nume’s products. The Curljam set contains a flat iron plus a three barrel curling wand. I just love how sleek their products are. I can’t wait to get my hands on this set.

Michael Todd True Organics Soniclear Anti-microbial Cleansing System

I have oily, acne-prone skin. This means I have to be diligent about keeping my skin clean. The Soniclear cleansing brush is designed to gently deep clean your skin. I like to equate it to a battery operated toothbrush (only for your face). I like that the system comes with a face and body brush. Plus, the brush heads are anti-microbial!

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment

Now that I am in my thirties, I am making a conscious effort to take better care of my skin. In researching quality facial products, I’ve come across countless reviews on Glamglow products. I am eager to try their Supermud as it is best for my skin type. It claims to deep clean, reduce pore size, etc.
