Love Of My Life: Part Trois

Hi Everyone-

I am back with another installment of Love Of My Life. As you may know, I am a huge music fan. And since I love learning about new music, I thought I would share a few of my faves with you. What are some of your current favorite songs?

Tamia- Stuck with You. I actually love Tamia’s entire new album. However if I have to choose a song it would be Stuck with Me. I love the subject, tempo, lyrics, etc. And Mrs. Hill’s voice is as flawless as ever.

Ed Sheeran- Take Me to Church. I love Ed’s version of this song. Although the song is a little sacrilegious I find it to be very well written. And I love that Ed took a risk by attempting such an edgy song.

Corrine Bailey Rae- Is This Love. This is another remake done well. I love the fact that Corrine kept the integrity of the song while staying true to her style of music.

Tech9 featuring (Kendrick Lamar, Mayday and Kendall Morgan)-I’m Fragile. Many people do not know this but I am a huge rap fan. I love artists that are true to themselves stylistically as well as the art form. And Tech9 is no exception this. Although the song features many talented artists, it is not over done. I also love the fact that the song takes on the topics of bullying and how sensitive/passionate artists are about their material.

Alessia Cara- Here. I cannot get over Alessia’s soulful voice. Being the introvert that I am, I can completely relate to this song. I also appreciate how well written this song is.

Love Of My Life: Part Deux

Hi Loves!

I am back with my second installment of Love Of My Life. As you may know, I am a huge music fan. And since I love learning about new music, I thought I would share a few of my new obsessions with you. What are some of your current favorite songs?

Mary J. Blige- Doubt. I love me some Mary J. Blige. To me, she is the epitome of a soul singer. There is something about her energy, song content, and voice that always seem to resonates with me every single time. And like many of her songs, I fell in love with her latest single (Doubt) the very first time I heard it. It is my and hubby’s jam.

Robert Glasper featuring Brandy, Common, Jill Scott, Faith Evans, Ledisi, Emeli Sande, etc. The first time I heard Robert Glasper play was at a Ledisi concert last February. Ever since then, I have been obsessed with his music. I especially love his songs with the before mentioned artists.

India Arie- I Am Light. India Arie is another one of my favorites. Work has been incredibly taxing recently and her song entitled “I am Light” has been especially helpful with decreasing my stress, remaining positive and centered.

Ed Sheeran- Thinking Out Loud. I think Ed Sheeran is a great song writer and I just love the tone of his voice. I simply cannot get enough of his “Thinking Out Loud” song. It is a beautiful song about love’s ability to endure through the test of time. And the video is quite awesome as well.

Tamia- Because of You. Tamia is one of my favorite singers. And although I love most of her songs, I think “Because of You” may be my favorite. It is an inspirational song that I can relate to you. It is well song (as always) and well written. I find myself singing this song whenever I am feeling grateful.
